Job Information

  • Responsibilities: Develop evaluation tasks from real permit review work, including building plans examiner review, code consultant plan review, third-party and private provider plan review, accessibility and ICC A117.1 review, energy code drawing checks, occupancy classification and change-of-use analysis, zoning site plan review, permit intake completeness screening, as-built versus permit deviation checks, and specialty occupancy review for facilities such as healthcare, schools, food service, and public pools. Author tasks and correct answers based on real drawings, documents, and site photos. Collaborate with a second reviewer in the same discipline to ensure quality before tasks are finalized. Work independently and asynchronously to meet deadlines while refining task quality.
  • Qualifications: 3+ years in a building department plans examiner or similar role. ICC Building Plans Examiner certification (B1, B2, or B3), or current or recent employment performing AHJ or third-party plan review. Experience working in U.S. model code jurisdictions (IBC, IEBC, IECC, ICC A117.1). Ability to mark up and measure plan sets. Preferred: 8+ years of plan review experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu or an equivalent plan markup and measurement tool. Strong working knowledge of applicable building codes and the ability to produce structured review deliverables such as correction letters and marked-up sets.
  • Language and Schedule: Professional English required. Remote work performed independently and asynchronously; applicants should confirm specific schedule expectations during onboarding.
  • Contract Type: Contractor / project-based role.
